Our Philosophy

In a ranking of agritourisms in Basilicata, Masseria San Giuliano would rank high in terms of history and tradition. Built in the mid-19th century on a rural area known as Piana Fiorita, the building and its land changed hands several times over the years, until 1975, when it was purchased by the Chito family. The cattle breeding and fodder production for which the property was built continues uninterrupted, passed down from father to son.

In 1991, the eldest son, Pasquale, during restoration work, decided to bring to light some old stone dwellings. Originally built as homes for laborers, these were later converted into mini-apartments to accommodate families and tourist groups.

The unique feature of this Basilicata agritourism is its privileged geographical location, overlooking the San Giuliano dam oasis, 4 km from Miglionico and 14 km from Matera, completely immersed in medicinal plants, woods, and Mediterranean scrub. The scenery of the nature reserve provides the perfect backdrop to days that pass slowly, in total relaxation, in contact with a pristine landscape.
